Youth Services

WorkSource Georgia Mountains offers assistance to eligible young adults through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), a federally funded program. The Youth Service Programs focus is to target low-income, at-risk out of school young adults and connect, or reconnect those to educational programs or, occupational skills training that will lead them into self-sufficiency.

WorkSource Georgia Mountains may assist eligible applicants with the cost of GED testing and college tuition along with supportive services such as; childcare, transportation reimbursement, tuition, and book cost while attending classes.

WorkSource Georgia Mountains also partners with high schools and community-based organizations that are committed to the well-being and success of participants, and help to ensure that they are prepared to complete their education and become active members of the workforce.

Credit Recovery

Young adults that have been withdrawn or dropped out of high school and need to make up credits for graduation can receive case management and monetary incentives for credits they have earned 

College Tuition Assistance

Tuition, books, required supplies, childcare, and transportation assistance are available to young adults who are planning to enroll in occupational skills training.  Participant must enter into a program that qualifies as a growth and demand field, and an approved school.

Independent Living/ Mentoring

Interactive workshops designed to promote self-sufficiency in daily living, money management, work/study skills and career educational planning.

Apprenticeships/Internships

Paid and unpaid apprenticeships and internships designed to assist young adults in career and training skills.

RYDC GED

GED/ Life Skilled focused program inside the Regional Youth Detention Center in Hall County to assist youth offenders with GED prep, life skills, and independent living skills.

 Youth Program Eligibility

To be eligible for youth programs and services, the applicant must:

  • Be a resident of a WorkSource Georgia Mountains County or Homeless AND
  • Be between the ages of 16-24 AND
  • Have ONE or more qualifying needs for service:
    • High School Drop-out
    • Foster or Emancipated youth
    • Homeless or Run Away
    • Pregnant or Parenting
    • Involved in the justice system
    • Documented Disability
    • Needs additional assistance (income contingent)
